YOUTH TRAINING
Parents and legal guardians, this course is for junior shooters seeking an introduction to firearms in a safe environment, and/or for those who wants to learn and get into any of the shooting sports, in any capacity desired. Gun Training Group is where a youth will learn patience, determination, organizational skills, mental and physical control, safety awareness, goal setting, problem solving, and good citizenship/sportsmanship. We have many aspiring junior competitors who have traveled to competitions far and near; Gun Training Group provides the support necessary so that our junior shooters can achieve their goals and dreams. The only requirement is that one is willing to compete with the best to be the best.
No matter their age or level of experience, our instructors can make a world of difference helping junior shooters become confident in their skills.
This course is designed for junior shooters who want to learn the safe handling of firearms and develop a strong foundation of proper shooting skills. All shooting activities, events, and training are conducted under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
Course Overview
Like our Beginner's course, our Youth Training begins with a presentation by the instructor(s) on basic gun operation and the main four rules of firearms safety:
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
Always know your target and what is beyond it.
Always treat every gun as if it’s loaded.
Students will be given a general introduction to firearms. Students will learn safe firearm handling techniques, operation and basic maintenance, and fundamental shooting skills.
Lectures are followed by students participating in "Dryfire" drills to build specific needed skills where they are taught to handle and operate their firearms safely and confidently without ammunition. Students will then go through a series of live-fire exercises where they practice shooting fundamentals and skill-building drills.
